Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Experimental Medicine

Locations of German Centers for Health Research have been selected

Fraunhofer ITEM is participating in two of these centers

The Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Experimental Medicine will participate in two German Centers for Health Research: the German Center for Lung Research and the German Center for Infection Research. This is the result of a competition launched by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), aimed at establishing a total of four German Centers for Health Research. Two of these were founded already last year. In the centers, the best universities and non-university research institutions are to collaborate and shall contribute to accelerating the translation of research results from the laboratory into clinical practice.

In the German Center for Lung Research at the Hannover location, the Fraunhofer ITEM will participate together with the Hannover Medical School (MHH) and the Leibniz University of Hannover. The application for the German Center for Infection Research in Hannover was filed together with the MHH; the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Foundation; Twincore; and the Center for Translational Medicine. The selected partner locations are now required to develop an overall concept for each center.
