Clinical Research Center Hannover

The CRC Hannover, which opened in 2014, maximizes benefits for patients by enabling leading academic experts to pool their expertise and collaborate. Three legally independent research organizations are working at the CRC Hannover under one roof. While clinical investigators of Fraunhofer ITEM and the Hannover Medical School perform early-phase clinical trials of new drugs and medical devices, researchers of the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research are conducting a part of Germany’s largest health study, known as “National Cohort”. These three partners share CRC Hannover’s unique infrastructure, which includes outpatient clinics, overnight facilities, advanced medical equipment, magnetic resonance imaging systems, and a state-of-the art biobank for storing biological samples.

What unites us is our dedication to becoming one of Europe’s leading centers for patient-oriented translational medicine.

At the CRC Hannover, experts of Fraunhofer ITEM and Hannover Medical School with unique, extensive experience and capabilities work on different indications in early-phase clinical and proof-of-concept studies. The building is one of Europe’s largest non-hospital clinical research centers. Occupying a three-story building with 6000 square meters of floor space, it hosts clinical studies, patient-oriented research, epidemiological studies, and the central biobank of the Hannover Medical School. If your candidate medication requires efficacy and safety testing, please get in touch with us.

Fraunhofer ITEM expertise

Our Respiratory Clinical Trials research unit is a highly specialized, academia-affiliated facility that focuses on early-phase and proof-of-concept trials. We have considerable experience in conducting clinical trials of drugs to treat respiratory diseases such as asthma, allergic rhinitis, COPD, interstitial and diffuse parenchymal lung diseases (especially idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), sarcoidosis, and other ILDs). For full-service projects, we work with CROs that have extensive experience with respiratory indications.
