Prof. Dr. med. Norbert Krug, Fraunhofer ITEM Director and coordinator of the CRC Hannover, welcomed the VIPs in the impressive facilities of this medical research center that is the only one of its kind in Germany. The visitors’ focus was on the Study Site Hannover of the “German National Cohort” study (NAKO), which is being coordinated by the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research (HZI), and on TWINCORE – Center for Experimental and Clinical Infections Research, a joint institution of HZI in Braunschweig and the Hannover Medical School (MHH).
At the CRC Hannover, three legally independent research organizations are working under one roof. While clinical investigators of Fraunhofer ITEM and the Hannover Medical School perform early-phase clinical trials of new drugs and medical devices, researchers of the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research are conducting a part of Germany’s largest health study, known as “German National Cohort” study.
If you wish to learn more about the visit of the ministers Karliczek and Thümler, please refer to the press release (available in German only) issued by the visitors’ host, the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research.
