The vital signs of the proband can be monitored in real time along with a webcam view of the bedroom.

In collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry, Social Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Hannover Medical School, a clinical trial with an antidepressant drug candidate will be started in February 2018. Fraunhofer ITEM in Hannover is one of five study centers in Germany participating in this study. The aim is to investigate the effects of the new drug on the symptoms of depressive patients, but also on sleep disorders and other psychosomatic problems such as anxiety. To enable monitoring of sleep disorders, the study participants will spend several nights in the new sleep laboratory during the treatment phase.
