Testing e-liquids is complex and demanding. To obtain meaningful results, e-liquids must be vaporized under precisely controlled temperature conditions, the entire relevant temperature range must be covered, overheating must be avoided, and the resulting aerosols must be reliably analyzed.
Authorities, research institutions, and testing laboratories face particular challenges
The wide range of e-liquids combined with the large number of differently operating e-cigarettes makes it difficult to establish standardized tests. Since e-cigarettes operate at very different temperatures and the ingredients of the liquids undergo chemical and temperature-dependent changes when heated, the resulting aerosol varies.
EVape as a solution for reproducible results
The system developed at Fraunhofer ITEM enables reproducible vaporization under strictly controlled and thus reliable laboratory conditions. EVape allows the precise setting and monitoring of temperatures between approximately 150 °C and 350 °C and reliably prevents overheating. This provides valid data for the chemical and toxicological analysis of all potentially generated aerosols and significantly reduces both time and costs compared to conventional testing methods.
