Apprenticeship as an Office Management Assistant

About us

At our Hanover site, you can begin a well-structured and engaging apprenticeship in the Central Services department – supported by experienced trainers who will guide you throughout your journey.

You can choose between two training pathways with the following elective qualifications:

Human Resources & Commercial Management and Control

or

Procurement & Logistics & Commercial Management and Control.

During your apprenticeship, you will get to know various departments — for example Procurement, Human Resources, Personnel Development, Travel Services, Accounting or Controlling. This gives you a comprehensive understanding of how a research institute is organized and how the different administrative areas work together.

Key information, focus areas, vocational school

With us, you can look forward to a well-founded apprenticeship where you will be guided and supported by experienced mentors. You are not alone: in our apprentice network, you can connect with other apprentices, exchange ideas, and support one another.

To help you build your professional skills, you will benefit from development opportunities within the large Fraunhofer network – and you will also have access to our e-learning platform, allowing you to continue learning flexibly at any time.

Your work-life balance also matters to us. With flexible working hours and the option to work partly from home, you will have enough time for friends, family, and leisure.

And because an apprenticeship is not only about learning but also about living, you can enjoy many additional benefits: attractive discounts through our corporate benefits program, 30 days of vacation, a company pension plan, and access to our staff restaurant with discounted prices.

The apprenticeship generally lasts three years, with a weekly working time of 39 hours – an exciting time in which you will grow step by step into your profession.

  • Gaining insights into a wide range of commercial and administrative areas such as human resources management, purchasing, accounting, personnel development, recruiting, and controlling, as well as learning about their respective processes

  • Acquiring comprehensive foundational knowledge and deepening your expertise in your chosen qualification areas
  • Working with the modern ERP system SAP S/4HANA and gaining hands-on experience with various applications and tools

Your Vocational school

Your vocational school is the Berufsbildende Schule Cora Berliner located at the Nußriede campus in Hannover.

  • A secondary school diploma (equivalent to Realschulabschluss) or a general (subject-related) higher education entrance qualification
  • An interest in economic contexts and office processes, as well as enjoyment in working with computers
  • Quick comprehension, strong willingness to learn, and an independent, precise way of working
