Models of Lung Disease 2022 and satellite workshop Alternatives to Animal Testing

The 20th Fraunhofer Seminar "Models of Lung Disease" will be held in Hannover, Germany, on June 23 and 24, 2022, with a thematic focus on lung infection. An additional satellite workshop on June 22, dedicated to alternatives to animal testing, can be booked separately or in combination with the main event.

Fraunhofer seminar "Models of Lung Disease 2022"

Models of Lung Disease is a workshop for about 120 participants, organized by Fraunhofer ITEM in cooperation with the German Center for Lung Research (DZL). The event provides a highly interactive platform for exchange of experience and intense discussions between experts from different research fields and the pharmaceutical industry. This year's thematic focus will be on infection and lung disease.

In addition to top-level speakers, a special highlight of this year's seminar is the SPRIND session, presenting projects that have been successful in the current challenge targeting new antiviral agents. SPRIND is the German Federal Agency for Disruptive Innovation, creating spaces for innovators where they can take risks and think radically different. Under the banner of the SPRIND challenges, visionary teams are selected to work on cutting-edge new solutions.

Satellite workshop "Alternatives to Animal Testing"

The satellite workshop on June 22 will focus on alternative in-vitro and ex-vivo models for use in toxicology, pharmacology and infection research. It will provide an opportunity to meet experts in this subject area, listen to interesting lectures and connect with our network.

Guided tours – see how we work

In addition to oral and poster presentations in different thematic sessions at both events, Fraunhofer ITEM will offer several guided tours to selected departments of the institute on all three days, allowing visitors to get insights into different aspects of the research work performed by the Fraunhofer scientists.

Poster exhibitions – present your own research

Consecutive poster exhibitions – one per event – with up to 40 posters each and extra poster sessions will accompany the two events. A poster prize will be awarded for the best poster presented at Models of Lung Disease 2022. Poster authors will have to submit an abstract by e-mail to lung.ws@item.fraunhofer.de by May 30, 2022. Abstracts can be accepted only if at least one author of the poster has registered for the corresponding event.
