Working at Fraunhofer ITEM

Fraunhofer ITEM – We as an employer

The world is changing rapidly – and with it the demands of a healthy future. At Fraunhofer ITEM, our goal is not to »treat symptoms in the short term« but to create lasting impact. We protect people from health risks and develop solutions that truly improve lives.

Our employees are the key to this mission – they are our

»top talents for top research«

More than research: how we work together

Meet, Share, Connect

At Fraunhofer ITEM, you are not only part of an excellent research environment but also part of a vibrant community. To help us learn from one another, exchange ideas, and build connections, we regularly offer formats that go far beyond day-to-day work.

For example, colleagues meet at our Lunch Roulette, where lunch partners are matched randomly once a month on a voluntary basis. Another format, WissensZeit, provides a platform to present and discuss exciting projects, collaboration partners, and current research questions.

Arrive well from day one: with an individual digital onboarding plan, a personal welcome event at Fraunhofer ITEM, and a virtual introduction to the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.

Our locations

At our three Fraunhofer ITEM sites in Hannover, Braunschweig, and Regensburg, we very much look forward to getting to know you.

Hannover

At our main site in Hannover, research is conducted in the areas of »airway research«, »preclinical pharmacology and toxicology«, and »safety assessment and toxicology« – both preclinically and clinically. Clinical studies take place under state-of-the-art conditions at our Clinical Research Center Hannover (CRC Hannover).

Braunschweig

In Braunschweig, our »pharmaceutical biotechnology« team has been developing biopharmaceutical processes for more than 25 years and produces active substances and investigational medicinal products in compliance with GMP standards. Located at the Science Campus Braunschweig-Süd, the team oversees the entire process from cell line development to clinical testing.

Regensburg

The »personalized tumor therapy« division is based at the BioPark Regensburg. Here, we develop innovative methods for diagnostics and prevention, improve preclinical drug development, and drive the clinical translation of research through advanced cell models, assays, and biomarkers.
