Specific questions require tailored solutions

© Fraunhofer ITEM

Complex biological questions cannot be addressed by generalized “one-fits-all” approaches. Our commitment is to provide tailored bioinformatics solutions that provide a comprehensive yet specific answer to your question.

We offer our clients expertise in bioinformatic analysis of high-throughput data from next-generation sequencing or microarray experiments. The Fraunhofer ITEM bioinformatics unit in Regensburg focuses on the analysis of human single-cell omics data, though other experimental setups can be handled equally well. Our expertise ranges from simple gene expression via complex genome reconstruction analyses to novel algorithm and application development.

Our services and expertise

Data analysis:
Extensive and reliable raw data quality control; whole-genome/whole-exome sequencing (WGS/WXS): variant (SNP, InDel, CNV) discovery, comparative genomics, large structural rearrangement analysis (WGS only), de novo genome assembly (WGS only); RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq): differential expression (gene and/or isoform), alternative splicing, isoform and novel transcript prediction, variant (SNP) discovery, de novo transcriptome assembly, gene fusion detection; microarrays: differential gene expression or SNP array analysis

Data interpretation:
Functional genomics: gene expression classification (e.g. heat maps, cluster analysis), variant annotation/classification; systems biology: metabolic pathways, gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), identification of potential therapeutic targets or biomarkers; data mining: search and comparison against existing relevant published and unpublished datasets

Consulting:
Experimental design assistance for sequencing omics studies, custom targeted sequencing panel or microarray chip design, assistance with publications and/or grant writing
